This is the next entry in the Pokemon franchise and will be generation 8.
Today we got the announcement of Pokemon Sword and Shield as the next entry in the Pokemon franchise and will be generation 8.
These games look beautiful and the world looks very big and open - the world looks more alive. Something I noticed was that they are playing around with the camera angles in this game a lot. This will make the game feel bigger and give more of an open world feel. Something I wasn't too crazy about was that they are sticking with random encounters of wild Pokemon. This has been a staple of these games, but I really liked how they did the encounters in Let's Go better. This is not a deal breaker but I thought they would have taken something from Let's Go. As time goes on we will get more details, and maybe they took more from Let's Go that we haven't seen yet. The battling looks great and will be more of the focus then it was in Let's Go, and gyms are back! (missing in generation 7) There was also a scene of an arena - so maybe there will be some online tournaments or in-game tournaments for the end game. They did reveal the starters for this generation as well, as seen in the below picture with their names. These are very interesting models and I am excited to see what their evolution's will be.
